Curry House CoCo Ichibanya Irvine, California

Weather View from C-130

Have you ever wondered what the pilot’s view looks like out of a C-130? Well now you can see for yourself. Here they are looking at the clouds and the weather that they will be flying into.

Looking Around The Rock

Here are some sights around Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait. As you can see there isn’t much to look at because it is all desert.

Death Road

After Iraq invaded Kuwait and the United States forced the Iraqi military out of Kuwait while the Iraqi troops were retreating many were mowed down on what is known as “Death Road.”

Many of the tanks can now be found in tank dumps like these.

C-130 Aircraft

While at Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait I got to see some C-130 aircraft. I even got to fly in the back of one as a force protection measure when leaving Kuwait.

Kuwaiti Towers

While on temporary duty in Kuwait I was afforded the opportunity to go downtown and see the Kuwaiti Towers for myself. Here is a nice arial view of the towers. I’ll leave it up to you to decide what type of aircraft this photo was taken from. Here is also another photo taken while driving by.

Intricate Wood Carving

While in Japan I went to this building that had some very intricate wood carvings. I didn’t get on a ladder to inspect, but the wood appeared as if it was untreated and still looked very nice.

Japanese Architecture

While in Japan I was amazed by the architectural structure of the building. Look at all the untreated wood to hold the roof structure. It is amazing that it lasted after all these years.

Being a Great Dad

A young woman visits her parents and brings her fiancée to meet them. After an elaborate dinner, the mother tells her husband to find out about the young man. The father invites the fiancée to his library for a drink. “So what are your plans?” the father asks the young man.
“I am a Torah scholar,” he says. “A Torah scholar? Hmmm,” the father says.
“Admirable, but what will you do to provide a nice house for my daughter to live in, as she is accustomed to?”
“I will study,” the young man said, “and God will provide for us.”
“And how will you buy her a beautiful engagement ring, such as she deserves?” asks the father.
“I will concentrate on my studies,” the young man replies. “God will provide for us.”
“And children?” asks the father. “How will you support children?”
“Don’t worry, sir, God will provide,” replies the fiancée.
The conversation continues like this, and each time the father questions, the young idealist insist that God will provide.
Later, the mother asks: “How did it go, Honey?”
The father answers: “He has no job and no plans, but the good news is he thinks I’m God.”

Japanese House with Garden

Many Japanese homes have a small yard and a nice garden with a walkway to the front of the house. This is because many Japanese people enjoy being artistic and taking care of their plants. The degree of difficulty and artistic design varies based upon each person, but no matter how they are they sure give you something beautiful to look at.

University of Michigan Beats Houston With Buzzer Beater Final Shot

This year the University of Michigan men’s basketball team has made it to the NCAA tournament. Prior to the tournament they had time off so their offense hasn’t looked very impressive, however last night they were able to squeak out a victory against the University of Houston with a buzzer-beater 3 point shot by freshman Jordan Poole to win the game and advance in the tournament.

Humvee After Shootout

Here are the remains of a Humvee after a fire fight in Iraq.

Steelcase is Everywhere

Growing up my neighbor worked for Steelcase, otherwise I would probably have no idea that Steelcase is an office furniture company out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. While driving up the I-5 north in California I passed a Steelcase truck. That was pretty cool to see them this far out west. I have heard that you will never see one of these trucks broken down on the side of the road because it is company policy that if a Steelcase truck ever breaks down the drive has to cover it up so the company doesn’t get bad publicity. Being that I’ve never worked for the company I can’t verify if that is true or not, but that’s just what I heard from one of the drivers.

Humvee Hit by Improvised Explosive Device

Here are the remains of what once was a Humvee that was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED).

The Italian Funeral

A Jewish man was leaving a convenience store with his espresso when he noticed a most unusual Italian funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery. A black hearse was followed by a second black hearse about 50 feet behind the first one. Behind the second hearse was a solitary Italian man walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were about 200 men walking in single file.

The Jewish man couldn’t stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the Italian man walking the dog and said… “I am so sorry for your loss, and this may be a bad time to disturb you, but I’ve never seen an Italian funeral like this. Whose funeral, is it?”

“My wife’s.”

”What happened to her?”

“She yelled at me and my dog attacked and killed her.”

He inquired further, “But who is in the second hearse?”

“My mother-in-law. She came to help my wife and the dog turned on her and killed her also.”

It was a very poignant and touching moment of Jewish and Italian brotherhood. Silence passed between the two men.

The Jewish man then asked… “Can I borrow the dog?”

The Italian man replied, “Get in line.”

Bronze Bell at Japanese Shrine

While at a shrine in Enoshima, Japan I saw this big bronze bell. These bells have a nice ring to them. From what I remember about reading about them is that the people who make the bell don’t know if they have a good bell until after it is cast and they hear the ring for the first time.

The H3 Tunnels on Oahu

When driving the H3 across the island of Oahu will need to pass through the tunnels that go through the mountains. Here is the entrance to the tunnels on this elevated highway. The views are spectacular and the interesting thing is that the sun may be shining when you go into the tunnel and it may be raining on the other side so always be careful and slow down.

Golden Places and Smiling Faces

In Thailand there are gold stores all over the country much like this one. The people are real friendly and always willing to help you find what you are looking for. Thai gold is a real yellow gold that differs from other types of gold I have seen. They don’t sell you gold by the ounce they sell it by the baht. That takes a little getting used to in forms of the conversion.

Lizard in Thailand

Here’s a little lizard in Thailand. I’m not sure if it was a really big gecko or just some sort of lizard, but it wasn’t exactly what people wanted to see when they went in to use the restroom.

Three Billboards Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Newest Billboard of Sexual Assault

Sexual assault and sexual harassment are serious issues that Hollywood, the Academy, and other employers should seriously be taking action to resolve. How can Hollywood be throwing political stones when their glass house is way too dirty? Harvey Weinstein is just the tip of the iceberg with people who have sexually harassed or sexually assaulted others by using their fame or position to get sexual favors. A message to all actors, actresses, Hollywood, and the Academy, “Stop pushing your political agenda when you have more serious issues to resolve!”
